Our goal was simple. We wanted to enjoy the weather, see more of the Santa Monica Mountains and make some memories. So this week our family loaded up the backpack and drove out to find some hiking trails at the Malibu Creek State Park.
We were driving through Malibu on Hwy 1. At one point I looked over to the side of the road and saw a large, bright, blinking sign announcing to everyone that I was driving over the speed limit. I immediately slowed down and felt a little embarrassed. Then I felt a slightly grateful because our day could have been ruined had I gotten a speeding ticket or had an accident.
Like our family this week, you also have goals. You have specific career, health, spiritual, relational, and personal character goals.
Like me driving this week, you have limited awareness, knowledge, and discipline. So how can you position yourself for real progress?
One practical step you can take is to begin to “do life” with people who share your desires.
Why would you make progress in community with other people? One reason is accountability.
Wise people desire accountability.
“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20
Who are you walking with?
